A poetic reflection on Nigeria's march towards 50 years of independence. And my Canadian friend's picture to feed your faculties.

As We Sail Towards Jubilee
When I was a baby boy
Playing with a toy
Silky songs they fed us with
Though there were little cheats

Silky songs
O silky songs
Silky songs with something to eat
Silky songs with butter and wheat

When I was a little lad
Milking with some cards
Things were not that bad
As we rolled some willing wads

Silky songs
O silky songs
Silky songs were silky stewed
Silky songs we meaty chewed

Now I am a man all over town
Everywhere is painted with frowns
As many things are going wrong
Hardship is biting very strong

Silky songs O silky songs
‘Kpuho-kpuho’ with silky songs
Silky songs O silky songs
Silky songs so strong and wrong

Their dirty games so saintly continue
Though we are so black and blue
With healing hope getting few and few
Masses flesh they chew anew

Silky songs O silky songs
Silky songs so wrong and strong

Where are we going
With these silky songs?
What are you doing
With their silky songs?

Poem: From Your Sexy Guy

She is an angel with an enthralling face,
Smooth baby-like skin space,
Her voice melts my mind like milky melody;
But do I understand her?
She plants my heart with tender scars
Though they say no man can fully drink
The labyrinths of an Eve,
Oh would she take me to her sink?
I weave sighs of milky heaves
Each time I catch your charming eyes
All my life sorrows say good bye.

WHO ARE YOU FOLLOWING?

(Dedicated to President Barak Obama of U.SA.)
I have snapped the picture
The picture of my future
With a loving family
Loaded with thoughts heavenly
And zeal of helping mankind
On the desktop of my mind

I have snapped the picture
The picture of my future
As my own boss
To never dine with any evil camp
For in God’s avenue there’s no suicide or loss
As providence and care is His lamp

He could transport you anywhere
As long as you are willing to be there
For a blind man cannot describe a rainbow
Unless the one with eyes makes him know
What type of seeds have you been sowing?
What fruits have you been harvesting?

"...lovely poems...They remind me of some of the Sufi poets and also the Christian metaphysical poets. Elegant and imbued with a quietness that bespeaks a contemplative mind."

Flightless Wings

When a leaf falls from a tree
It flies away like wind so free,
Though it stays for centuries on the floor
It has no voice on branches up
Though it cricks like a dangling door
The floor remain its eternal shop
Blood and flesh are just like a leaf
Though some lie and steal world into pocket
And like Methuselah live,
A second comes for us to kick the bucket;
And all the toil are just in vain
So, stop pouring others pain,
Though like saints we sing the saviour's name
Pretentious acts make the soul defame.

Yola Sun

Shining! Shining!! Shining!!! Sun!
High burning in Yola!
Oh ah! Oh ah!
You slap me with your burn.

Shining! Shining!! Shining!!! Sun!
When won’t you be on?
Oh ah! Oh ah!
You slap me in Yola.
